APPRENTICE CALCULATES MATHS QUALIFICATION SUCCESS
A Bury College apprentice has received the professional training and support needed to pass her mathematics qualification, which in turn will help her achieve her dream career within a growth industry.
25-year-old Leah Thomas began her Level 2 Customer Service apprenticeship in June 2017 and is currently employed at First Choice Homes Oldham. Here, Leah has undertaken the role as an Employment Support Advisor where she manages caseloads of customers who are looking to secure employment opportunities.
Having struggled with her maths studies at school, Leah enrolled onto the apprenticeship hoping to secure not only the apprenticeship qualification but also the maths functional skills qualification to help progress her career.
Through the continued support, encouragement and motivation from her Bury College Assessor and Bury College Learning and Skills Coach, Leah was delighted to successfully pass her functional skills maths exam.
Leah said, “I was so overwhelmed when I finally secured my maths qualification! The support I have received from Bury College has been beyond amazing and I appreciate every little thing that they have done for me.”
Leah, who lives in Uppermill in Oldham, previously worked in Retail but wanted to change career direction. She is now preparing herself to sit the English functional skills exam and progress onto the Employment Related Services apprenticeship.
Leah continued, “I never realised quite how important English and maths was to my future. I am so grateful for the extra support I have received and a second chance to secure these qualifications.”
