Bury College Art students bring colour to Rose Court Care Home
Our second-year Textiles and Fine Art pathway students recently visited Rose Court Care Home to run a series of arts and crafts workshops.
Studying English Literature allows
you to immerse yourself in different worlds and learn about different societies
throughout history and across the world.
The topics studied on this course are:
- Gothic Literature – Dracula, The Picture of Dorian Gray and short extracts
- Drama and poetry pre-1900 – The Duchess of Malfi and selected poetry by Christina Rossetti
- Literature post-1900 (coursework) – A Streetcar Named Desire, Atonement and selected poetry by Carol Ann Duffy
- Shakespeare – The Tempest
Assessment
is 80% exam and 20% coursework.
A Level English can lead to a variety of careers including:

You will also engage in the Positive Futures Careers Programme, developing key employability skills through a diverse range of activities including work placements, volunteering, employer talks, industry study visits and employment and university fairs.
For A-level programmes: 6 GCSEs at grade 9-4 (to include 3 GCSEs at grade 9-4 and 3 GCSEs at grade 9-5). Require grade 9-4 in English Language and Maths.
