PLASTERERS PREPARE FOR CAREER PROGRESSION
Bury College Plastering students are looking forward to kick-starting their careers after securing apprenticeship opportunities.
The college is proud to deliver programmes which allows individuals to gain the skills, knowledge and experience for them to progress directly into employment. The Plastering department is delighted to have supported the progression of so many learners and for them to take their first step into the industry.
18 years old Paul Yarwood has completed his Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications and has secured an apprenticeship at Howdens Joinery, the UK’s largest manufacturer and supplier of joinery products. The former Prestwich Arts College pupil impressed the business during his work experience placement and was offered a Warehousing apprenticeship. Paul said, “I was really happy when they offered me the apprenticeship. My Bury College course has allowed me to gain skills in different trades and the theory behind Plastering.”
Liam Mercer, a former Siddal Moore pupil, is equally as happy to have secured an apprenticeship at a housing and ground development company which specialises in both commercial and domestic work. 19 year old Liam said, “I am really happy I have a job for after I finish college. Eventually I would like to open my own business so the Maintenance apprenticeship is a great start.”
Former Bury Church of England High School pupil Kieran Isherwood is excited to start his Plastering apprenticeship and apply the skills he’s learnt at the Bury College workshop. The 19 year old said, “The apprenticeship is great, it’s the first step into employment. I have enjoyed my course at Bury College and like all my tutors.”
