What is a V Level?

V Levels are new Level 3 qualifications that the Government has announced. The current plan is that they will be available for students from September 2027.

Each V Level is equal to an A Level, so you could mix V Levels and A Levels together. The aim is that they will be more applied than A Levels, teaching job skills in areas like digital, finance, or education, and letting you explore a career area before fully specialising when you leave College.

Who are V Levels for?

The V Level study programme will appeal strongly to students who:

  • Would like to learn skills that are specific to certain careers.
  • Are keen to mix academic teaching and learning, with a more applied way of studying a subject.

V Level Subject Areas

Nationally, the first V Levels will be available from September 2027 in:

  • Digital
  • Education and Early Years
  • Finance and Accounting

More subjects will follow over time.

V Level Entry Requirements

The exact entry requirements are still being finalised, but as you combine these courses with A Levels, they are likely to be in line with our A Level entry requirements.
