What is a Vocational course?

Vocational courses provide training and qualifications for specific careers. They are designed to develop real-world knowledge and industry-specific skills, combining practical learning with theory to help you build confidence and ability in your chosen field.

Many vocational courses also include valuable work placement experience, helping your CV stand out and giving you a clear insight into the career you want to pursue.

Vocational Entry Requirements / Understanding the Levels

Our entry requirements for the majority of our Level 3 vocational programmes is five GCSEs at grade 4 or above. A minimum of 8 grade points is required from English and Maths combined. For other vocational level entry requirements, please refer to our website.

Progression to University

University is a popular next step for many Level 3 vocational learners. The combination of coursework, practical assessments and applied learning offers excellent preparation for higher education across a wide range of subjects.

Work placements

A work placement allows you to go into a real work environment and put your knowledge into practice. You will develop professional skills, gain industry insight and prepare for your next steps.

Our dedicated Work Placement Co-ordinators help you secure high-quality placements, which may take place on study days, during holidays or as part of your course timetable. Most vocational courses include at least one week of work experience each academic year.
