Bury College recently hosted an event for its valued hair and beauty partner employers, thanking them for their ongoing support.
The event, hosted by the College’s Work Experience and Hair and Beauty Teams, featured a morning of networking between employers, followed by a mini spa experience delivered by the College’s talented students.
Employers enjoyed a range of treatments, and their feedback was collected to help enhance student’s skills and the College’s curriculum. Natalie Mayoh, Head of Curriculum – Hair and Beauty at the College, said:
“This networking event allowed our students to get some key feedback from employers about how they are delivering their treatments. That feedback will be invaluable for students going forward and will allow us to identify skills gaps, so that we can really enhance our curriculum and further develop it to ensure that students are work-ready.”
Ese, owner of EA Hair in Bury, has previously hosted Bury College students for their work experience. She shared her enthusiasm for the event, and her experience working with the College:
“It's exciting to be here today for this event. I've been into the College to give presentations to the students previously, and we've also had students do work experience with us too. Taking on a student is a really good experience. They are ready to work, enthusiastic and take part in everything.”
Sam, owner of Tierney’s Nails & Beauty in Radcliffe, and a former Bury College student, added:
“I actually came to Bury College myself – I studied Level 3 Beauty and after I finished, I opened my own salon. I took on a work experience student recently, he was amazing. It's nice to come back to the College, see my old teachers and the new facilities.”
Sam praised the event for the networking opportunity it provided, strengthening connections within the industry. “It's great to be able to make connections here today – we don't get the chance to do much networking in our industry, so it's nice.”, she added.
For some employers, the partnership with Bury College extends to charity work. Ashley from Little Lady Locks, a charity providing free wigs to children experiencing hair loss, expressed her gratitude to the College and students:
“We are very fortunate that Bury College's Hair and Beauty department have supported us for the last two years, doing fundraisers for us and helping children all over the nation. The learners are incredible and so talented! Their support really means the world to us.”
Bury College is proud to work with employers to ensure that students are fully equipped with the skills, knowledge and confidence they need to thrive in their chosen careers. The support of all partners is greatly appreciated and helps nurture the next generation of industry professionals.
