Our specialist Pathways to Learning courses provide opportunities to develop a range of abilities and personal skills for successful performance in working life and to support progression onto Level 1 and 2 courses or into employment. The main aim is to gain new skills, enhance your potential for learning and raise your aspirations whilst making informed choices about future progression routes.
The
Construction Pathway will provide you with a basic introduction to the
occupational areas within the construction industry including Bricklaying,
Plastering, and Carpentry & Joinery. The course will provide you with an
insight into the industry, organisations and job roles. You will develop your
skills and knowledge by completing practical projects in the workshops, studying
health and safety and carrying out operations. You will also complete study
units to improve your personal and social skills. The course is designed to
support you to develop the skills to progress onto a Level 1 course in
Bricklaying, Plastering or Carpentry & Joinery.
These course are assessed using a variety of methods including written work, practical activities, role play, presentations, group discussions, diagrams, posters and work experience. You will also study English and Maths, take part in work experience placements and study units to improve employability, personal and social skills.
Successful
completion of this course may lead to progression to a full time Bricklaying,
Plastering, or Carpentry & Joinery course . The Prospects Course
Construction Pathway enables you to progress, achieve recognised qualifications
and experience employment.
You
need to purchase appropriate Personal Protective Equipment to wear in the
workshops and may be asked to contribute to costs of trips and visits that
support the curriculum.

For the Prospects Construction Programme: Entry is subject to interview, EHCP (if applicable) and initial assessment. Students should be interested in the construction industry, improving their Maths & English skills and committed to attendance and participation in all activities.
