To ensure you're ready for the start of your course, you'll need to purchase the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for practical lessons.
PPE Kit
The PPE kit differs depending on the course you are enrolled on.
Level 1 – £35

- Gloves
- Safety glasses
Level 2 – £39
- Bury College embroidered hi-vis vest
- Bury College embroidered long-sleeved top
- Work trousers
- Gloves
- Safety glasses
Safety Boots
Steel toe cap safety boots are mandatory for all Carpentry & Joinery students and must be purchased independently.
Stationery
You'll also need to provide your own:
- A4 lined project notebook (with dividers)
- Pens
- Pencils
- Pencil sharpener
- Ruler
- Eraser
Lockers
Lockers are available to hire for a refundable £10 deposit. The deposit will be returned when the locker key is handed back.

Financial Support
The college can provide financial assistance for purchasing uniform and/or equipment resources through the Financial Support Schemes (i.e. bursary) – Details of which will be provided and discussed at enrolment. Any further information required regarding financial support available can be found on our Student Support page. The student services team will also be available during enrolment.
