Studying English Literature allows you to immerse yourself in different worlds and learn about different societies throughout history and across the world.

The topics studied on this course are:

  • Gothic Literature – Dracula, The Picture of Dorian Gray and short extracts
  • Drama and poetry pre-1900 – The Duchess of Malfi and selected poetry by Christina Rossetti
  • Literature post-1900 (coursework) – A Streetcar Named Desire, Atonement and selected poetry by Carol Ann Duffy
  • Shakespeare – The Tempest

Assessment is 80% exam and 20% coursework.

A Level English can lead to a variety of careers including:

For A-level English Literature: Grade 9-5 English Language
