Our Childcare courses are designed to build the knowledge and skills you will need when working with children.

During your course you will study a wide range of subjects in college and have the opportunity to put new skills into practice whilst on work placement. You will need to be a reliable and enthusiastic person with sensitivity to the needs of children and be willing to work hard. Successful completion at Level 3 will give you a professional qualification to work with children, without supervision, in a wide range of different work roles.

You will benefit from hands-on experience of working with children in a real childcare setting. Our facilities include an on-site Nursery and Forest School.

Please note, a DBS check will be required when you enrol on the course in order to complete a placement.

Growth and development of young children
Children’s play
Practical health and safety
Safeguarding the welfare of children and young people

This course is tutor assessed using a range of methods, including case studies, assignments and booklets.

A booklist is available at a cost of around £25. There is also a Childcare uniform which you may like to purchase.

You will also engage in the Positive Futures Careers Programme, developing key employability skills through a diverse range of activities including work placements, volunteering, employer talks, industry study visits and employment and university fairs.

For Level 1 Caring for Children: 4 GCSEs at grade 9-2 (including English Language). Need a clear DBS check.
