Our professional Hairdressing courses provide you with the skills, knowledge and confidence to progress through the levels and into industry as a Junior Stylist.
An enthusiasm for hairdressing is essential, in addition to personal qualities of motivation, good communication and dexterity skills. The skills you will develop include carrying out services such as shampooing, conditioning, styling, dressing and setting hair, cutting, perming and colouring .
There will be lots of opportunities for trips, visits, guest speakers, mentoring and work experience. This is an exciting programme, designed to help you get ready for your next steps.
The topics studied on this course are:
- Monitor and maintain health and safety practice in the salon
- Hairdressing consultation support for colleagues
- Cut women’s hair to create a variety of looks
- Style and dress hair using a variety of techniques
- Colour hair to create a variety of looks
- Perm hair to create a variety of looks
- Creative hairdressing design skills
- Hair colour correction services
How you will be assessed:
- Practical assessments
- Online examinations
You have the unique opportunity to progress onto a bespoke Salon Management degree at Bury College University Centre and/or progress into careers including:
- Hairdresser
- Salon Owner
- Stylist
- Freelance Hairdresser
- Cruise Liner Stylist
- Salon Manager
- Manufacturer Technician
There may be additional costs for uniform and kit.

For Level 3 Women's Hairdressing: A Pass on the Level 2 qualification in Hairdressing plus successful completion of the Skills Test.
