Our Plumbing qualifications focus on the development of the underlying principles and practical skills required to be successful in the Plumbing sector. These courses are designed to deliver a high level of occupational skills and provide a sound basis on which to build. Our courses will also enhance your ability to work to deadlines and increase your speed in the workshop. Excellent organisational and time management skills will be developed by completing practical projects to strict deadlines.

The topics studied on this course are:

  • Common plumbing principles
  • Environmental awareness
  • Hot and cold water systems
  • Sanitation
  • Working relations
  • Health and safety
  • Central heating systems
  • Electrical principles
  • Scientific principles within the domestic plumbing industry

Theory exams and practical assessments.

Career opportunities may include:

  • Plumber
  • Heating Engineer
  • Gas Engineer
  • Drainage Specialist

You are required to purchase PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) that you must wear in all practical sessions; this will include a hi-visibility vest, a pair of gloves and safety goggles, all available to purchase from college at enrolment. In addition, you will also need to purchase a pair of steel toe capped boots.

You will also engage in the Positive Futures Careers Programme, developing key employability skills through a diverse range of activities including work placements, volunteering, employer talks, industry study visits and employment and university fairs.

For Level 2 Plumbing: 4 GCSEs at grade 9-4 (including Maths, English Language and Science) OR GCSE 9-4 in Maths & English Language and a Pass on the Level 1 Plumbing Course.
