
Bury College recently hosted a Higher Education Fair for its current learners, welcoming representatives from over 20 different universities.
Bury College proudly hosted its Work for Us event on 27th February, offering a unique opportunity for prospective applicants to explore career possibilities within the college. The event showcased the diverse roles and departments at Bury College, engaging with potential future employees and inspiring them to consider joining our dedicated team.
With stands representing the wide range of subject areas and services, including A Levels, Science, Computing & Digital, Health & Social Care, Engineering, plus many more. It wasn't just subject-based roles on display; there were also opportunities in business support, pastoral care, and other essential areas within the college.
Attendees had the chance to interact with current staff, learn about career paths, and discover the many benefits of working at Bury College. As a key employer in the local area, the college remains committed to improving the futures of young people while supporting its staff with excellent working conditions and opportunities for professional growth.
Many current employees have found their way to Bury College through previous Work for Us events. Sandra Smith, a Student Information Administrator, shared her experience:
"I came to the event, and everyone was lovely, friendly, and they showed me to the department I would like to work in. Then about four months later a position did become available.
My favourite benefits of working at the college are the pension, and the fact we shut down for two weeks for the Christmas holiday. It’s lovely to be able to spend some time at home with my family."
Warren Barlow, a Trainee Lecturer in Electrical Installation, also praised the supportive environment:
"Everyone in the department has helped me to build my confidence, my subject knowledge, and my teaching abilities.
I think everyone who works at Bury College is committed to the best outcome for all their students."

Two dedicated apprentices working in a local nursery are proving that it’s never too late to upskill, thanks to the Early Years Level 5 Apprenticeship offered at Bury College.
Our art students have brought a splash of colour and creativity to Bury Hospice with a striking new mural celebrating the spirit of the local community. Painted by students from the Foundation Diploma in Art and Design, the mural features vibrant hydrangeas and iconic Manchester Bees, symbolising unity, resilience, and the six towns of Bury.
