This programme will enable you to develop the skills, knowledge and experience in order to be able to effectively manage a salon or start a business. You will have the opportunity to develop your employability skills and the ability to operate successfully within the hairdressing and beauty industry. You will develop your skills in business, leadership and management and research to further enhance your employability and to support your career advancement.

You
will be assessed in a variety of ways including essays, reports, presentations
and practical observations.
Classroom
based learning is supplemented by industry links with a range of employers and
guest speakers in the hairdressing and beauty industry. You will also have the
opportunity to attend workshops/masterclasses given by guest speakers. The
programme is delivered by experienced professionals with industry experience and
academics. You will have the opportunity to complete a piece of independent
research into a particular area of personal interest within the hair or beauty
industry.
This
course will provide you with a range of skills and knowledge to enable you to
progress into a variety of employment opportunities within the hair or beauty
industry or onto further study at postgraduate level.

You will also engage in the Positive Futures Careers Programme, developing key employability skills through a diverse range of activities including work placements, volunteering, employer talks, industry study visits and employment and university fairs.
You will need to have successfully completed the Salon Management FdSc Qualification. Applicants should also have three GCSEs at grade 9-4 (A*-C) including English Language. If English is a second language, you will need to complete a Secure English Language Test at IELTS 6.0 or equivalent.
The majority of students will be able to access a Tuition Fee Loan from Student Finance England to pay their HE Course Fee.
Self-funding students may pay in 3 instalments in September (33%), January (33%) and April (33%).
