In addition to excelling in her studies, a Bury College Sports student has been busy representing England in Athletics.

Anna Gisbourne made her England senior debut in the 800m at the International Flanders Athletics Meeting at the Flanders Sports Arena in Gent, Belgium.  She performed exceptionally well in the race with a time of 2mins 09.23secs being a season’s best.

All of this is in addition to still performing well at Bury College. Anna, a former Woodhey High School pupil, spoke about the supportive tutors and how they’ve helped her balance her Athletics career.

Anna said: “My tutors have really helped support me with my Athletics career. The lessons are always really enjoyable and have helped me to develop my skills and knowledge. Whatever happens over the next few years, I know that everything I’m working on inside and outside College will help improve my career prospects.”

Josh Linklater, Anna's tutor, was full of praise for his student: "Her work is to the highest standard in college regardless of how busy she is outside of college. She is a true professional all round. Her work ethic, attitude and commitment to all aspects in and out of college is excellent. Even days when you can tell she is tired from training or college work, she still has a positive attitude and smile on her face."
