Applied Science is a work-related qualification that focuses on the development of practical skills and underpinning knowledge in the Science industry. The course will appeal to students who enjoy studying Science through practical work such as completing projects and assignments based on realistic workplace situations.
The Level 3 qualification in Forensic and Criminal Investigation is a work related qualification that focuses on the development of practical skills and underpinning knowledge in the Forensic Science industry. The course is for learners who aim to progress onto higher education to study Forensic Science, Criminology, Criminal and Forensic Psychology or related degrees.
During your first year you will study:
• Principles and applications of science I
• Practical scientific procedures and techniques
• Science investigation skills
• Forensic investigation procedures in practice
• Physiology of human body systems
• Forensic traffic collision investigation
• Microbiology and microbiological techniques
During your second year you will study:
• Applications of criminology
• Criminal investigation procedures in practice
• Applications of criminal and forensic psychology
• Forensic fire investigation
• Forensic genetics
• Practical chemical analysis
