What is a T Level course?
T Levels are equivalent to three A Levels and carry UCAS tariff points, making them a strong route into higher education.
Each course combines:
- 80% classroom learning, covering core knowledge, concepts and specialist content
- 20% on-the-job experience, including a minimum of a 45 day industry placement
- Technical training developed in collaboration with employers to ensure you gain industry-specific skills
T Levels allow you to develop the practical skills, knowledge and behaviours needed to become occupationally competent and ready for your next steps.
T Level Entry Requirements
To study T Levels at Bury College, you will need to achieve a minimum of 5 GCSE grades 9-4, including English and Maths.
Entry requirements may vary depending on the subject area. In general, you will need:
- A strong interest in a specific technical career route
- A commitment to completing an extended industry placement
- A good foundation in relevant GCSE subjects
Your placement, assessments, and specialist content may require additional subject-specific entry criteria, which are outlined on each individual course page.

How are T Levels assessed?
You will be assessed through:
- Externally set exams at the end of each academic year
- A skills assessment to demonstrate technical competency

These assessments ensure you are fully prepared for your chosen career pathway, further study or higher/degree apprenticeships.
Progression to University
University is a popular next step for many T Level learners. T Levels are equivalent to three A Levels and have UCAS tariff points for entry to university.
