The 10th February marked the start of National Apprenticeship Week 2025 and gave us a great opportunity to catch up with some of our former apprentices. See what they had to say about life after their apprenticeship.
As a member of our Bury College construction team, you will guide students aged 16 to 18, as well as our 19+ adult learners, through practical demonstrations in our specialist workshops and help to develop their skills and knowledge in the classroom. If you’re experienced in bricklaying, carpentry and joinery, electrical installation, painting and decorating, plastering and plumbing, then we want to hear from you.
You need to be passionate about what you do, have an interest sharing your skills, industry experience, and a relevant trade qualification to start your journey with us.
Colleagues who have come into teaching following careers in the construction industry, talk about their experiences in the video below.
Phil Burgess, Painting and Decorating Lecturer, said: "When I first came to Bury College, I noticed that learners had lots of pastoral support. It showed that the college cares about its learners."
Liam Donnelly, Trainee Lecturer in Electrical Installation, added: "I worked in industry for nine years. During this time, I took an apprentice on myself and I enjoyed seeing him develop. This made me want to get into teaching."
