The week started off with a charity Blowdryathon, hosted by Bury College’s Hairdressing Apprentices. This special event saw almost £500 raised for Little Lady Locks, a charity that provides free wigs to children experiencing hair loss. Read more about the charity Blowdryathon here.
The College also held Apprenticeship Masterclasses for Year 10 students from Newhouse Academy, allowing them to learn more about Apprenticeships, explore their options and tour facilities. Subjects included Business and Accounting, plus Childcare.
On Tuesday, Bury College's dental Apprentices had a stand in the Woodbury Centre's Bistro, where they shared their knowledge with peers for Children's Dental Health Month.
More Year 10 Masterclasses took place on Wednesday, this time in dental and hairdressing. Holy Family students attended and took part in a range of practical activities.
That evening, the Apprenticeship Star Awards Ceremony took place, celebrating the hard work of Bury College Apprentices at College, in the workplace and beyond.
Dental Apprentices shared their expertise again, this time in the College's Beacon Centre. Childcare Apprentices also held a raffle for NSPCC, raising just over £100!
Bury College's Apprenticeship Team, in collaboration with the GMFE Innovation Programme, presented a webinar for local employers on Becoming Disability Confident. This introduced attendees to practical ways to help make workplaces more inclusive for employees with SEND.
Finally, on Friday it was time to celebrate! Bury College showcased their Apprentice Star Award winners on social media. Follow Bury College's social media accounts for more highlights.
National Apprenticeship Week was a reminder of the talent, passion and commitment Apprentices bring to their studies and workplaces. The week has now come to an end, but Bury College will continue to support and showcase their Apprentices all year-round.
