LANGUAGE STUDENTS SPEAK SUCCESS
Two Bury College A Level language enthusiasts set their sights on progressing to top national and international universities.
Having gained the linguistic skills and abilities needed to achieve their career goals, language students Luke Mackey and Ourania Gerasi have received offers to study at some of the countries most prestigious universities.
Ourania moved from Gualdo Tadino in Italy to Bury and enrolled at Bury College following a recommendation from her cousin. The 18 year old student has enjoyed an exciting Bury College trip to Paris as well as trips to Lancaster University, University of Huddersfield and University of Manchester.
The 18 year old was delighted to receive an offer to study International Relations at the highly acclaimed Universite Libre De Bruxelles (University of Brussels) which she hopes will prepare her for a career working within the European Parliament.
Ourania said, “The tutors at Bury College are really nice and I enjoy the learning environment here.”
18 year old Luke, who is studying A Levels in French, English Language and English Literature, believes the university trips and enrichment he has participated in at Bury College has helped him to secure university success.
The former Philips High School pupil, who has received offers to study French from the University of Warwick, University of Leeds and Lancaster University said, “I was delighted to receive offers from the universities of my choice and hope that this will lead me to a job working as a translator or an interpreter. I have loved my time at Bury College, the language facilities are brilliant and we have all we need to ensure that we reach our full potential.”
