New building developments, existing campus refurbishments and a significant investment in student resources are all about to commence at Bury College.
Working in close partnership, and with support from Bury MBC and the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA), over £7 million is being invested to support the educational futures of students studying at Bury College.
This summer, a new A Level Centre will open, with state of the art facilities, modern purpose-built science laboratories, new computing suites, language laboratory and more. The centre will be open for students studying from September 2018 and, to ensure students receive the personal attention and support, will be limited to 500 places.
Also launching in September 2018 will be a Digital Media Centre, a new Business Suite, a Travel and Tourism Hub and substantial new facilities for Foundation Studies students.
In addition to this, preparation work will be beginning on a new building focussing on areas vital to the needs of Bury and Greater Manchester; health, life sciences, science, technology, computing and mathematics. This new centre, based at the heart of the Bury College campus on Market Street and Pyramid Park will open in September 2020.
Bury College Principal Charlie Deane is delighted:
“This is wonderful news for current and future students and for business across Bury and Greater Manchester. This investment reflects the long-term vision of the college’s governors, leadership team and our close partners in Bury MBC and GMCA. The developments will enable more individuals to benefit from academic excellence, career-focussed skills and vital apprenticeships that our local employers want. Bury College is already in the top 10% nationally for progress in advanced level 3 vocational courses, as well as English and mathematics and these investments will help us to build on this even further.”
