APPRENTICE ACHIEVES UNIVERSITY DREAM
A healthcare practitioner is realising her career dream after completing a Bury College apprenticeship and taking the next steps in her training.
Mollie Cooper has recently completed her Bury College Adult Care Worker Level 2 apprenticeship and has secured a place studying the Nursing Associate Foundation Degree at the University of Salford. Here Mollie is balancing her studies with her role as a Support Nurse for Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust.
The former St Gabriel’s RC High School pupil began her apprenticeship journey in 2017 where she completed her Level 2 qualification at Persona Care and Support within the Learning Disability Day Service. Mollie worked in the role of Support Worker in Escape where she was part of a team responsible for supporting individuals with learning difficulties who were aged between 18-30 years old.
Upon successful completion of her Level 2 apprenticeship, Mollie decided she wanted to use the skills, knowledge and experience she had gained and secure a higher-level qualification. Mollie is now enjoying working at a Mental Health Rehabilitation Centre based in Oldham which is part of the Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust.
Mollie said, “My apprenticeship with Bury College was really good. I received a lot of support and I now have a good level of knowledge which I am able to build on. Before I started my apprenticeship I was totally new to the health and social care industry and this apprenticeship has taught me so much.”
