A LEVEL LEARNERS VISIT RUSSELL GROUP UNIVERSITY
A group of six students visited the University of Oxford for an inspirational event which motivated and inspired high-achieving learners for their future careers.
Bury College A Level students enjoyed an overnight residential at Mansfield College in Oxford which provided students with a unique insight into life as an Oxford undergraduate. The visit included a taster session of the degree course they were interested in as well as an engaging question and answer session with Heads of Subjects.
Students were also given the opportunity to soak up the cultural sights of the popular city as well as sit a mock interview with university professors.
Elysia Grimes-Haworth, Geography, Biology and Sociology A Level student and a former The Elton High School pupil said of the experience, “The trip to Oxford was extremely motivating and overall a great experience. I really enjoyed being able to speak to the tutors and meet new people who were interested in studying the same course as me.”
Also delighted to have the opportunity to attend the trip to one of the world’s leading universities was former Wardle Academy pupil Abbie Mayor. The A Level student, who is studying English Language, Drama and Geography, said, “I really enjoyed the visit as it was a great insight into university life. It was great to experience a redbrick university.”
Former Harper Green School pupil, Hollie Nuttall, who is studying A Level English Literature, English Language and Psychology, believes it’s great that Bury College provides trips and visit opportunities, “I receive great support from my Bury College tutors and I really like the opportunities I have. I’m enjoying studying in the new A Level Centre and all the new facilities.”
