PUBLIC SERVICES STUDENTS SUPPORT POLICE TRAINING EXERCISE
Bury College Public Services students have played a vital role in supporting Greater Manchester Police with Public Order training.
Students visited Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service Training and Safety Centre based in Bury where learners acted as rioters to help support Greater Manchester Police with their Public Order training.
During the exercise, students played the part of an aggressive crowd in realistic night-time conditions that simulate a tense public order situation.
Chris Reid, Bury College Lecturer in Public Services, said, “Many of our students are aiming for a career in policing and experiences like this enable them to understand the highly stressful situations that police officers may face. We have close links with all of the Emergency services and Armed Forces and by assisting in exercises like this we are contributing to community safety and providing the students with a valuable learning experience.”
