If you are finding everyday online tasks difficult, then this Digital Skills for Life short course will help you develop your online skills.

Learn how to log on, communicate, shop and access services online. Gain the skills to access the internet using a smartphone, tablet or computer to perform everyday tasks while keeping safe online.

With our range of IT and digital courses, you will develop your knowledge and understanding of the new and advancing technologies that shape our everyday lives.

  • Using mobile, and other small digital devices
  • Finding, evaluating, storing and retrieving information
  • Creating documents, sending & receiving emails and participating in 1:1 video calls
  • Registering and shopping online, including awareness of online risks and threats and protecting personal information
  • Using the web, browsers, search engines and social media effectively

There are no formal entry requirements for this course. However, students should have or be working towards at Level 1 in English. Students are invited to complete assessment before starting the course.

Some courses are free for eligible learners, this is shown in the course details. You may be eligible for a free course if you are:

  • Unemployed and in receipt of an income-based benefit (for example JSA, ESA or Universal Credit)
  • Employed and earning less than the low-income threshold
  • Studying for your first full Level 2 qualification on an eligible legal entitlement course
  • Aged 19-23 and studying for your first full Level 3 qualification or on an eligible legal entitlement course
  • Your eligibility for a free course will be assessed and confirmed at enrolment.

ADVANCED LEARNER LOAN

Many of our adult learners pay for their Level 3 and above courses with an Advanced Learner Loan. If a loan is available this is indicated in the course details. It’s easy to apply, your household income isn’t taken into account and there are no credit checks. You only need to start paying back your Advanced Learner Loan when you are earning more than £25,000 per year.
