Business Administrators have a highly transferable set of knowledge, skills and behaviours that can be applied in all sectors. This includes small and large businesses alike, from the public sector, private sector and charitable sector. The role may involve working independently or as part of a team and will involve developing, implementing, maintaining, and improving administrative services. Business Administrators develop key skills and behaviours to support their own progression towards management responsibilities.

The responsibilities of the role are to support and engage with different parts of the organisation and interact with internal or external customers. As an apprentice, you will develop a wide range of skills which will include financial processes, social media posts as well as proposing and implementing improvements.

As a Business Administrator, you will be expected to deliver your responsibilities efficiently, with integrity and demonstrate a positive attitude. You will need strong communication skills (both written and verbal) and adopt a proactive approach to developing skills.

You will also be expected to show initiative, manage priorities and own time and demonstrate problem-solving skills. You will also be expected to manage a project and delegate tasks to others whilst showing a high level of ICT skills.

An apprenticeship is a real job where you learn, gain experience and get paid. By the end of an apprenticeship, you'll have the right skills and knowledge needed for your chosen career.

As an apprentice you will:

  • Learn and train for a specific job
  • Get paid and receive holiday leave
  • Get hands-on experience in a real job
  • Spend a minimum of 6 hours a week off-the-job to develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours relevant to your apprenticeship standard
  • Complete assessments during and at the end of your apprenticeship
  • Be on a career path with lots of future potential

There are different rates of pay for apprentices depending on your age and what year of your apprenticeship you’re in.

Your employment contract should confirm your rate of pay.

You will attend college classes taking place one day per month and will also receive one-to-one support in the workplace with a dedicated Learning and Skills Coach.

You will complete an End Point Assessment with the awarding body City and Guilds and will complete:

  • Multiple Choice Test
  • Portfolio based interview
  • Project/Improvement Presentation with 2500-word report

  • Relevant responsibilities
  • Relevant qualifications and/or initial assessment testing on maths and English will take place prior to commencement including a 1000 word written task to assess writing ability.
  • Specific entry requirements may be applicable based on employer requirements
