Students studying Digital
Infrastructure will discover how to secure computer networks from hardware and
software vulnerabilities and threats from organised hacking. You will gain a
sound understanding of fundamental principles such as cabling, routing and
switching before progressing to specialist technologies; including firewalls and
implementing effective cyber security. This will ensure you have developed the
skills needed to practically apply your knowledge in the classroom or the
workplace.
You will learn about the
value of digital technology and gain an understanding of customer and commercial
needs. Discussions about the ethical and moral issues raised by the increasing
reliance on technology and automation and the importance of legal requirements
will form part of your studies.
All that you learn will then
be put to practical use on your industrial placement, where you will be
supported throughout by your tutors and mentors to apply what you have learnt to
your job role.
In addition, you will
have the opportunity to explore emerging technology trends and innovations such
as Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Augmented Reality
(AR), Blockchain and 3D printing.
