This course will prepare you with the skills and knowledge for an exciting career within the international tourism, hospitality and events industry. In the first year of the programme at Level 4, you will gain academic skills whilst also further developing your knowledge and understanding of the tourism, hospitality and events industry. In the second year of the programme at Level 5, you will prepare for employment or further study. You will undertake a work experience unit which will give you a direct insight into the sector and help you to develop essential employability skills.

This course will prepare you for a wide range of career opportunities and will allow you to explore the tourism, hospitality and events industry in both a national and global context.

You will cover the following topics:

Level 4

·         Academic Management skills for the Tourism, Hospitality and Events Industry

·         Successful Financial Management for the Tourism, Hospitality and Events industry

·         Management and Leadership for the Tourism, Hospitality and Events Industry

·         International Tourism Supply and Demand

·         The Principles of the Global Tourism Industry

Level 5

·         Tourism planning for the Future

·         Strategic Marketing and Consumer behaviour

·         Work Experience in the Travel and Tourism Industry

Assessment is via examinations and coursework, including essays, reports and presentations.

You will be supported to secure a work experience placement either in the UK or overseas. Previous undergraduates have participated in six-week placements in Tenerife and Malaga which has enabled them to develop essential employability skills and prepared them for industry.

Once you achieve your International Tourism, Hospitality and Events Management FdSc you can progress directly into employment or complete a top-up year at Bury College University Centre and achieve your BSc (Hons) International Tourism, Hospitality and Events Management Degree.

You will also engage in the Positive Futures Careers Programme, developing key employability skills through a diverse range of activities including work placements, volunteering, employer talks, industry study visits and employment and university fairs.

104 UCAS points or a Level 3 qualification. You may be required to attend an interview and/or provide a portfolio of work. Mature student evaluation, whose previous work experience includes a period of working in the Travel and Tourism or associated industries, may include and/or diagnostic essay. 5 GCSEs including English GCSE at grade 9-4 (A*-C). If English is a second language, you will need to complete a Secure English Language Test at IELTS 6.0 or equivalent

The majority of students will be able to access a Tuition Fee Loan from Student Finance England to pay their HE Course Fee.

Self-funding students may pay in 3 instalments in September (25%), January (25%) and April (50%).

Course Fee: £8,250.00 per year
