Bury College officially launches Hair and Beauty Centre with Plaque Unveiling event
The plaque was unveiled by Chris Trees, Chair of Governors at Bury College.
Our Beauty Therapy qualifications are designed for those who aspire to work towards becoming a professional Beauty Therapist working in salons or spas’ or in other beauty related industries.
We will help you develop skills and techniques to carry out professional beauty treatments following strict industry standard health and safety requirements . The topics that will be undertaken will develop your skills, knowledge and professional confidence so you are fully equipped to enter the world of work.
The topics studied on this course are:
- Working in the beauty related industries
- Follow health and safety practice in the salon
- Client care and communication in beauty related industries
- Provide facial skin care
- Promote products and services to clients in a salon
- Remove hair using waxing techniques
- Provide manicure treatments
- Provide pedicure treatments
- Apply make-up
- Provide eyelash and eyebrow treatments
- Nail enhancements
- Salon reception duties
How you will be assessed:
- Practical assessments
- Online examinations
You have the unique opportunity to progress onto a Foundation Degree in Beauty Management at Bury College University Centre and/or progress into careers including:
- Beauty Therapist
- Salon Owner
- Nail Technician
- Cruise Liners
- Hotels and Spas
- Department Stores
This
qualification requires you to purchase a uniform package and kit. The uniform
package includes shoes and a fob watch.

A minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade 9-4 including English Language and Maths OR Pass at Level 1 Introduction to Hair & Beauty Sector and skills test and passes in all Functional Skill subjects.
