Bury College Level 3 Art and Design students have been revamping The Frigate in Whitefield, in line with a brief supplied by the landlord and lady to celebrate the re-opening of the pub after a very long closure during lockdown.
As part of a work placement, Bury College Art and Design students were asked to create a design mural for a large blank wall outside the pub. Molly Barton, a first year Level 3 Games Design and Interactive Media student, created the design digitally, following the brief for something eye-catching that would make passers-by stop and look, and that would create a feeling of togetherness.
A small group of students worked incredibly hard over three days to paint the mural onto the wall to an extremely high standard. The landlord and landlady, Lisa and Tony, were delighted with the results, and the mural has been getting plenty of attention from patrons. They said, “We had a wonderful time working with the students and teachers. The wall is fantastic. It's a great talking point for the pub.”
The mural can be found on the wall of the Frigate, in Whitefield, M45 8FP.
