Bury College Art students bring colour to Rose Court Care Home
Our second-year Textiles and Fine Art pathway students recently visited Rose Court Care Home to run a series of arts and crafts workshops.
Bury Hospice recently teamed up with Bury College to provide Art students the chance to build their professional practice skills and work collaboratively in responding to a live brief.
Students from the Level 3 Extended Diploma, Fine Art and Pre-Degree Foundation Diploma programmes were tasked with developing a mural that will be used in the lounge area that the patients use for recreational activities.
Sandrine Pilling, Lecturer in Textiles and Art at Bury College, said: “Work placements provide invaluable experience with a broad spectrum of skills, knowledge and contacts. Nowhere is this truer than for students who wish to enter the arts sector, where great value is placed on industry experience and knowledge. Bury Hospice has offered a fantastic working environment for these students to work through student collaboration alongside a charity which offers support to those in difficult times. We are sincerely grateful for the opportunity and hope to develop further projects together in the future.”
Bury Hospice is a charity that is close to the hearts of many staff and students. They aim to help people fulfil their wishes during life-limiting illnesses, and they work hard to provide quality care whenever and wherever it is needed. Bury College has a longstanding relationship with the Hospice. An event organised by our Business students recently raised over £1,100 for them.
