Two of our wonderful apprentices and their employer have recently spoken passionately about the benefits of apprenticeships.
Maddison Trickett and Anya Harris, both former Alder Grange School pupils, are two Hairdressing Level 2 apprentices currently thriving at Spectrum One in Haslingden and are looking to progress their careers.
Maddison said: “I have really loved all aspects of my apprenticeship so far, being able to gain experience in the workplace has been amazing. It’s also been great to work alongside people that are experts at what they do.”
She also praised the support she gets from the College: “There is always someone available for help and guidance when I need it.”
It’s a similar story for Anya. She dreams of one day owning her own business and believes the apprenticeship is helping her develop the skills to achieve this. She also offered some advice to those thinking of going down a similar path. She said: “Just go for it! You will gain so much from the experience and become much more confident in your own ability.”
Victoria Hacking is their manager, and she spoke about the benefits of taking on a Bury College apprentice: “I would recommend it to any other organisation. The whole process is straightforward, and the apprentices themselves really add a lot to your business. They are always enthusiastic and ready to learn.”
An apprenticeship is a real job where you learn, gain experience and get paid. By the end of an apprenticeship, you will have the right skills and knowledge needed for your chosen career.
