Several Bury College staff members have recently successfully completed the Education and Training Foundation (ETF) Mentoring Programme and now look forward to using their newfound expertise in their work.
The programme is aimed at Further Education practitioners who want to improve their professional and personal development by mentoring colleagues. Those involved completed a blended learning programme while supporting staff members and each delivered 20 hours of mentoring.
The course has enhanced their mentoring skills and enabled them to access and share best practise with other Further Education providers nationally. They were also able to build professional networks and develop internal and external relationships.
Becky Tootell, Deputy Principal of Curriculum and Quality at Bury College, said: “We all believe that building a culture of mentoring and continuous staff development is important. It allows us to create a thriving college where staff are continually looking to improve themselves and help others along the way.”
Lisa Matthews, Assistant Principal for Adult and Higher Skills, Health and Childcare at Bury College, added: “Taking part in the ETF mentoring programme has been a fantastic way to continue our staff professional development. As a College, we strive to bring out the best in people, and through this programme we have had the opportunity to learn techniques and skills to help bring out the best in our invaluable staff.”
The Education and Training Foundation (ETF) is the expert body for professional development and standards in Further Education and Training in England.
