A Bury College A-level student has found himself with a Degree Apprenticeship at UK’s largest accountancy firm Deloitte.

Faisal Makansi, 18, is a former student of Co-op Academy Manchester and currently studies A-levels in Accounting, Business and Maths at Bury College.

To get the role, Faisal had to go through an extensive interview process, where he spoke with the managers and CEO.

Once he starts the next exciting chapter on his journey, he will be working as an audit associate. This will involve presenting projects and objectives. Faisal believes the experience of studying at Bury College has prepared him well for this. He said: “I am really excited for the training, and to work with the staff there. I will gain some role models and be able to map out my own career.”

He was also full of praise for everyone that helped him progress and develop at Bury College. This includes his tutor and fellow students. He added: “My accounts tutor, Rizwan Qureshi, is very supportive and has seen my potential. He has also had a career in the industry, so has been able to advise me.”

Faisal also said: “I have made new friends and been able to rekindle old friendships at Bury College. These have helped me along the way.”

Rizwan Qureshi, Faisal’s tutor, spoke in glowing terms about his achievement: “I am so pleased for him. He has worked incredibly hard during his time at Bury College and deserves all the success that comes his way going forward. He is a great inspiration to all present and future students.”
