A Bury College Business Administration apprentice has started an exciting role within the Business Operations Team at Ziax, a game and events studio based in Radcliffe.

Eliza Buckley signed for up our Business Administration Apprenticeship and has taken on a wide variety of work at Ziax since she started in 2020.

She had been project managing a new game on a new gaming platform called Crayta. As part of this process, they were asked to stream with staff from Unit 2 Games, an award-winning, Facebook-owned games studio. They played Crayload, a game that Eliza helped develop. It’s clear that she has really developed since starting what turned out to be a thoroughly enjoyable apprenticeship. The former Haslingden High School pupil said: “I really enjoyed my apprenticeship and now looking forward to working here permanently.”

She also spoke about the industry as a whole: “I was always a gamer, so this has been the perfect place for me to work. I also appreciate that I am one of very few girls that work in the industry, this is something I’d like to see improve in the near future.”

Suzanne Stewart, Bury College Learning and Skills Coach, who helped Eliza find this amazing opportunity, added: “It has been great to see how Eliza has progressed. From an employer’s perspective, it’s a great advert for the benefits of taking on an apprentice and what they can bring to any organisation.”
