A Bury College Supported Internship student has successfully gained full-time employment within the Catering team at St Luke's C.E Primary School.
Going back to March 2022, a group of Supported Internship students attended a jobs fair at Bury Castle Leisure Centre. It was here where Chris Clemson met Bonni Meart, Area Catering Manager from Bury Council.
Bonni was immediately impressed with Chris and asked him to send her his CV which Chris did. He was offered a work placement at St Luke’s at the end of May and applied for a job in their catering services on the 13th June 2022. Chris was successful and started work in September.
He has had excellent feedback from all his placements and has shown great resilience throughout his time at Bury College. Chris said: “I never thought I would get into full-time employment. Thanks to the help I’ve had from everyone at Bury College, I’m now working in an industry that I’ve always dreamed of working in.”
His family were all delighted with the progress that Chris has made. In an email to members of the Supported Internship team, they said: “We just wanted to say thanks for everything you and the other staff at Bury College have done to make this possible."
Our Supported Internship course allows students to develop and acquire specific and transferable employment skills required in the competitive world of work by taking part in three intensive work experience placements at different local employers.
