As the travel and tourism sector starts to pick up, many International Tourism Management students at Bury College University Centre have begun to forge a path for themselves in the industry.
Shannon Rimmer, 24, is currently in her third year and is already putting her education to good use. She has found full-time work at Hays Travel Agency alongside her studies.
She believes her education has given her a great start to a new career. She said: “I have learnt many key skills that will help me have a successful career in the industry.”
Chloe Collins, 20, also a third-year student, has recently got through to the final stages for British Airways Cabin Crew. If successful, she will be relocating to London after completing her studies.
Kyanna Hussain, 20, is another third-year student, and will be starting a role as a customer service agent at Manchester Airport soon. Kyanna believes her time here has given her a platform to shine in the industry: “My time studying at Bury College has given me a great insight into what it will be like to work in the industry.”
Both Kyanna and Chloe have progressed on to the Bury College University Centre from a Level 3 Travel and Tourism course at Bury College.
It isn’t just the third-year students making strides into industry – our second years are also putting their education into practice.
Lily Agate, 20, has successfully gained a place on the Management Training Scheme at Premier Inn. She’ll spend two years completing her management training alongside studying for her degree, and will then qualify as a Hotel Manager.
Halima Abbas, 22, has gained a part-time position with Hotel Brooklyn following a study visit there earlier this year.
Nicole Nixon has secured a position working for Jet2 at Manchester Airport as a Passenger Service agent alongside her studies.
Debbie Matthews, Assistant Curriculum Manager for Travel and Tourism at Bury College, added: “It’s such an exciting time for the Travel and Tourism industry, we are really proud of our students and wish them every success as their careers take off!”
