Bury College Sports students have been preparing themselves for career progression by taking part in mock interview sessions.
Students were tasked to sit in front of a panel of judges and answer a range of interview questions relating to a career they were interested in. The questions included what a student would bring to the organisation and how they would handle a difficult situation.
This was an important session to develop student’s employability skills and to ensure they are industry-ready. Students secured a range of employability and transferable skills including confidence, resilience and commitment.
Finley Chisnall was one of the students to take part in the mock interviews and really benefitted from the experience. The former Kearsley Academy pupil said, “I found the interview session really helpful. I did not feel comfortable attending interviews and feel like my confidence has grown. My long-term career goal is to become a Physiotherapist and I believe opportunities like these will prepare me for this.”
Ben Fallows, Bury College Head of Sport, added, “Developing employability skills is such a crucial part of the Sport study programme. We do all that we can to embed these transferable skills into the curriculum which supports transition onto higher education or directly into employment.”
