Bury College recently hosted a Higher Education Fair for its current learners, welcoming representatives from over 20 different universities.
We recently caught up with some of our T Level employers to get their take on how our T Level students are helping shape the activities of their businesses, as well as how our students are getting industry ready through their placements.
Our range of employers have been singing the praises of T Level placements, highlighting how students from Bury College are bringing fresh perspectives and valuable skills to their workplaces, while freeing up full-time staff to innovate and take forward projects that they may not have otherwise been able to do. These placements are not only helping businesses thrive but also equipping students with practical experience, making them industry ready.
Here is what they had to say:
Lee Potter, Managing Director of B2B Workwear & Janitorial Limited, has been impressed by the impact of Bury College T Level student, Oscar Aldersley.
The family-run Bolton-based company, specialising in workwear and PPE, have found Oscar to be a fast learner and a keen contributor.
“Oscar has developed valuable workplace skills and brought a hands-on approach to our operations” says Lee.
On his advice to other businesses, “Find the right person for your business and give young people the opportunity to grow their skills.”
Joseph Manuel’s placement with David Spruce Footwear and Accessories has brought a youthful energy to the well-established family business.
Managing Director Coleen Rhodes praises Joseph’s dynamism and adaptability: “He’s a breath of fresh air, keen to learn, personable, and quick to pick up different elements of our business.”
For companies considering taking on a T Level student, Coleen’s advice is clear: “100% go for it!”
The Met, a renowned music and theatre venue in Bury, has hosted multiple Travel and Tourism students on their T Level placements. Our students have made significant contributions to events such as the Lantern Festival. Artistic Director David Agnew notes: “The students bring real energy and enthusiasm, following instructions and getting fully involved in event support.”
David also encourages businesses to treat T Level placements as part of their recruitment strategy to find roles that suit their needs, whilst also supporting the next generation of industry professionals.
Layton Burns and Cameron Taylor have made a tremendous impact at Bury Business Improvement District (BID).
Project Manager Alex Fuller appreciates their contributions to data management, event support, and stakeholder engagement. “They’ve supported us with tasks like CRM, event promotions, and social media, helping us achieve our goals efficiently,” says Alex.
For businesses managing complex operations, T Level students can provide invaluable support.
At Buy It Online, T Level student Ayomide Adesina, also known as Evans, has been a valuable addition to the team. Business Development Manager Josh Speed shares: “Evans has brought fresh ideas and a dynamic approach to the workplace.
