STUDENTS SUPPORT CHILDREN IN NEED DURING BBC BROADCAST
Bury College were delighted to reveal live on the BBC the grand total of money fundraised during a weeklong Children in Need charity drive.
Staff and students travelled to Manchester City Centre to the Museum of Science and Industry on Friday evening to announce to the nation that Bury College had raised a fantastic £600, with money still coming in. The money raised from the college wide fundraising campaign will help support disadvantaged children and young people.
Students from across the college teamed together to raise money for the worthy cause. Activities took place throughout the week which included bake sales and refreshment stalls, carpark collections and henna and face painting, There was also a table tennis competition as well as an exciting flash mob carried out by Performing Arts students. Individual course groups also held their own fundraising activities.
Student Learning Mentor Nasreen Ashraf believes there was strong charitable spirit throughout the fundraising week and the trip to Manchester was an exciting experience for all involved. Nasreen said, “We are very proud of our students and all their fundraising activities. Our students continue to amaze us with their commitment to charitable events and for making extraordinary things happen.”
