A group of youngsters took their final bows as the curtains closed on yet another successful year of the Bury College Performing Arts Academy.
The popular after school club welcomed 14-16 year olds from across the local area and was an opportunity to develop new singing, dancing and acting skills. During the five-week course, enthusiastic and passionate school pupils benefited from training sessions delivered by industry professionals.
The dancing workshops encouraged pupils to develop a range of traditional and contemporary dance styles whilst the acting classes analysed a variety of acting pieces and enhanced solo and group techniques. The Musical Theatre sessions allowed pupils to explore and further advance their acting, singing and dancing abilities.
Upon completion of the five-week course the future superstars showcased their new-found performance skills to family and friends during an end of course celebratory performance.
In amongst the audience were Anne and Bruce Torrence who were there to support their son Fred. Anne said, “Our son is looking to study Performing Arts at Bury College and I believe the Performing Arts Academy has been a great springboard for his progression into further education. Fred has really enjoyed the after school club experience and speaks so highly of his tutor. It’s been great for him to step out of his comfort zone and meet new people.”
Fred, who is a year 10 pupil at Bury Church of England High School added, “I have very much enjoyed this opportunity. It’s been great fun and I have developed my confidence and communication and improvisation skills.”
