Students and staff at Bury College have donated hundreds of food items and products to charities in Bury and Manchester to help make a positive change to the lives of others.

During the month of December the college community pledged their support to collect tinned food, packet soups, rice, pasta, cereals, toilet rolls, kitchen rolls and cleaning materials for Lifeshare and Porch Boxes.

Both charities have benefited from the food donations which will go towards helping vulnerable people in need. Lifeshare aims to meet the needs of vulnerable and homeless people on the streets of Manchester and Porch Boxes provide food parcels and crisis packs to families in the Bury area.

Tracey Hall, Bury College Pastoral Mentor said, “The students and staff of Bury College are delighted to have raised donations and much needed awareness of these local charities. Students have developed a range of transferable skills by taking part in this charity drive. We   are proud to offer help and support to those in need in our community.”
