STUDENTS CALCULATE UNIVERSITY SUCCESS
Bury College Financial Studies students have been awarded scholarships from one of the UKs top specialist universities.
Alicia Harding and Dominic Leonard, a former Our Lady’s R.C. High School pupil, were in the top 11% in the country of students who achieved an A or A* in their Certificate in Financial Studies exam which they sat in June 2018. As a reward for their exceptional results, they have secured a £500 scholarship to study at the London Institute of Banking and Finance (LIBF).
The prestigious university, which receives over 500 applicants a year and can only accept 80, was proud to be recognised as second in the UK in the National Student Survey for delivering an outstanding student experience.
Chris Hampson, LIBF Relationship Manager, was delighted to visit the students of Bury College to present their certificates and scholarships. He said, “The students at Bury College have shown great determination and they should be proud to be in the top 11% in the country for their exam results. It’s been great to visit today and provide careers advice to the students about the Finance future that lies ahead of them.”
Alicia Harding, studying A Level Mathematics, Accounts and Diploma (DipFS) in Financial Studies said of her success, “I am really happy to receive the scholarship and it is a great incentive to keep working hard.”
Rizwan Qureshi, Bury College Lecturer in Accounts and Finance added, “This presentation provided the students with an excellent platform to explore various career paths in Finance, Banking and Accounting as they progress on to their next academic stage.”
