FOUNDATION STUDIES STUDENTS SHINE AT COMPETITON
Congratulations to Bury College Foundation Studies students who scooped a top award at the Bolton and Bury Area Board Young Enterprise competition at Bolton College.
Presented with the ‘Best Trade Stand’ award, students and tutors were delighted to be recognised for their eye-catching and innovative stand. Six groups from schools and colleges across Bury and Bolton took part in the competition.
Over the duration of the academic year, Bury College students completing the Business Challenge course have been running their newly formed ‘Shine’ business. Students were challenged to set up and manage a successful business, which involved an initial planning meeting where job roles were assigned, a calendar of events was designed and admin work such as company documents, registration fees and shares were organised.
20-year-old Bury College Business Challenge student Samee Suharwordy, Managing Director of ‘Shine’ said; “We’ve had a great time working together on Business Challenge and learning how to run a business.”
19-year-old Ayaka Bacon from Bury also studying the Bury College Business Challenge course and acting as the Personnel Manager of ‘Shine’ added, “It was so much fun taking part in the competition and meeting the other groups.”
Bury College Foundation Studies tutor Elaine Hopwood said of the group’s success, “We are extremely proud that our student’s hard work has been recognised and awarded. The stand is a credit to the students and illustrates their continued hard work and commitment.”
