APPRENTICE BUILDS GREAT FUTURE
A talented carpenter has secured an apprenticeship at a leading building and maintenance firm as he undertakes a range of commercial projects.
25 year old David Simpson is building himself an exciting future as he completes a Level 2 Site Carpentry apprenticeship at Medway Heating (Bolton) Ltd. This Bolton based business specialises in building and maintenance for residential projects, schools, hospitals and care homes and looks after a range of high profile clients including North Manchester General Hospital.
Stephen Leach, Building Contracts Manager at Medway Heating (Bolton) Ltd, is a proud supporter of the Bury College apprenticeship provision and believes strongly in gaining an apprenticeship qualification.
Stephen said, “As a company we always use Bury College to recruit our apprentices and each division of the Medway group has an apprentice. I believe that having a trade is the future and we feel that it is important to give young people opportunities through an apprenticeship. By completing this apprenticeship, David will not only gain a qualification but also be a multi-skilled joiner.”
During his apprenticeship, David, who lives in Radcliffe, is working at a range of different schools, hospitals and residential homes where he is renovating doors and skirting boards and other joinery requirements.
David said, “I am really enjoying my apprenticeship and like working at Medway Heating (Bolton) Ltd because it feels like a family community. My confidence is really improving as my knowledge of the job increases.”
