BUSINESS APPRENTICE ADDS VALUE TO SCHOOL OFFICE

A busy school office has enlisted the help of a hardworking Bury College apprentice to help support the operational side of their business.

Higher Lane Primary School have recruited Business Administration Apprentice Georgi Simms to support the increasing demand of the well-resourced primary school office. 19 year old Georgi has recently completed her first academic year of working at the Whitefield based school and has gained a range of employability skills such as customer service and problem-solving.

The former Harper Green School pupil said, “I am really enjoying working within the Office Team and learning new skills. On a daily basis I am dealing with visitors and parents, organising staff meetings and booking school trips. I would definitely recommend apprenticeships to other people as you are earning a wage whilst gaining experience.”

Higher Lane Primary School is part of the Vision Multi Academy Trust. The Trust believes so strongly in providing young people with opportunities to gain career-ready skills that every school in the Trust each employs one apprentice.

Higher Lane Primary School Headteacher Mr Tetlow said, “Georgi has been a great addition to the office team. She is enthusiastic, willing to learn and uses her initiative to complete tasks. We believe strongly in investing in young people and upon completion of the apprenticeship programme we always endeavor to offer individuals full-time employment opportunities.”
