BURY STUDENTS FUNDRAISE FOR CANCER RESEARCH UK
A group of hardworking L1 Introductory Business students worked as a team to raise money which will improve the lives of those living in Bury.
Using their initiative and team working skills, the Business students used a small budget to buy confectionery products, raffle tickets and a tombola which they sold to staff and students across the Bury College campus. They raised an impressive £197 which they kindly donated to Cancer Research UK Bury.
The students were delighted to present the cheque to a representative from Cancer Research UK who was extremely grateful for the donation. Helen Chambers, Shop Manager for Bury Cancer Research UK shop said, “It means everything to have received this donation and we as a charity are so thankful. All the money donated will be used towards research in the local area. We are really grateful that the Bury College Business students chose to donate to our charity.
Bury College Business student Ibrahim Kone said, “It feels really good to be able to help other people and it was nice to hand over the cheque to a worthy cause.”
The students were delighted to raise the money in just four hours and used a range of inter-personal skills to raise the funds. The charity initiative was a unit of the Business course and looks at making a difference to the community through fundraising.
