INSIGHT FROM A TALENTED FILMMAKER
A talented director triumphs in the film industry as her recent documentary receives rave reviews.
19 year old Megan Barlow identified her love of filmmaking at a young age and has worked to transform her talent into a career at Bury College, whilst completing a Creative Media Production course. Through her studies Megan was able to channel her creativity, shape her writing skills and perfect her marketing techniques – all adding to her confidence in the process.
With the help of Bury College, Megan secured a place at the renowned University of Central Lancashire, where she has had the opportunity to create short films and undertake a range of work experience placements. Megan believes her skills, knowledge and creativity gained whilst studying at Bury College has helped make her lifelong dream come true.
The former Sharples School pupil has recently produced a short documentary film which saw her liaising with industry experts from Los Angeles via Skype conversations. The documentary got her noticed by the likes of a local film company in Manchester, which has led to her attending numerous film premieres hosted by the BBC and Netflix.
Megan said, “I wanted to say thank you to Bury College as the skills I learnt at college on documentaries, marketing and scriptwriting has helped me to achieve amazing grades in my assignments at university. I enjoyed my time here, I was supported well and gained lots of skills that I have been able to use at university.”
