BURY COLLEGE A-LEVEL STUDENTS PREPARE FOR RUSSELL GROUP UNIVERSITY SUCCESS
Bury College A-level students have received offers to study at some of the top universities in the UK including several Russell Group institutions.
The Bury College A-level provision is building on its recent success, after the launch of the brand new A-level Centre two years ago. The college has seen exceptional results in A-levels and last year secured 98.4% pass rate.
Amongst those celebrating exceptional success is Levi Arden who has received a coveted offer from the University of Oxford. The former Kearsley Academy pupil competed against students from across the UK to secure an offer to study Physics at this prestigious institution. Levi was inspired to apply after visiting the university during a Bury College residential trip. His Maths and Physics knowledge was put to the test as he completed a challenging application process.
Levi, who is studying A-level Maths, Further Maths and Physics said, “It feels amazing to have received an offer from the University of Oxford! It is such a fantastic opportunity for me to further my career and my Bury College tutors really supported me with the application process. It has always been my goal to go to university so to receive an offer to study at one the best universities in the world is a wonderful feeling.”
Chinweike Ezeokafor is equally as delighted to have received an offer to study Engineering at Durham University. Aspiring Engineer, Chinweike, moved from Nigeria to Bury in 2017. He progressed to study A-levels in Maths, Further Maths and Physics after completing GCSE Maths and English in his first year.
Chinweike said, “I have always had a keen interest in Engineering and I am so happy to have secured a place at university which will help me towards my long-term goal of completing a Masters.”
A-level English Language, Psychology and Sociology student Charlotte Smith is also on the road to achieving her long-term career goal after receiving offers to study Psychology from two Russell Group Universities, Manchester and Leeds.
The former Woodhey High School pupil said, “I am really happy to have received offers from my top two universities of choice. My Bury College tutors have been great and supported me with my UCAS application and personal statement.”
Many other A-level students are also celebrating receiving offers from a wide range of universities, including the University of Bristol, University of Edinburgh, University of Liverpool, University of Sheffield and Lancaster University.
Every year, a high number of students progress onto university, an apprenticeship or directly into employment. Last year, over 700 students across Bury College secured places at universities across the UK and progressed on to study courses that could lead them to achieve their long-term career goals.
