Last week the Secretary of State for Education, the RT Hon Gavin Williamson CBE MP outlined the importance of the role of further education in giving people job-ready skills and driving up the skills of local communities.

Bury College’s introduction of new higher education opportunities, technical qualifications and investment in facilities to support the local economy align closely with the Government’s plans.

The importance of the transformational power of further education is echoed by Bury College Principal Charlie Deane;

“Further education is vital in helping to improve lives, businesses and communities.  The College has grown its higher technical education strongly over recent years and this is reflected in the increasing number of students now studying in our University Centre.

“At the same time, we have been investing in resources and development to support the introduction of new national T-Levels from September 2021 to complement our diverse range of technical, vocational and academic courses.

“Work is also commencing on the College’s new Health Innovation STEM Centre which will provide many individuals with access to a wide range of technical and vocational courses focussed on these vital areas of local and national importance.

Bury College is committed to providing a curriculum that prepares individuals for sustainable employment as well as progression onto further study and training.  The College’s commitment and focus on supporting individuals into high demand industries was also recognised by James Daly, MP for Bury North in Parliament recently.
